Generalized Fieldbus Interfaces

As stated above, generalized interfaces may be used to access fieldbus data without deep knowledge of the underlying system while maintaining a high level of compatibility.

Specifications of such interfaces have to deal with issues such as defining operations that may be used to access the fieldbus, the underlying data structure and its addressing scheme.
